I’m guilty as charged. I have ignored and disregarded the wonderful things my little angel tells me. It’s not because I don’t trust her. It’s because I don’t hold myself in very high respect. I have never felt the whole “You have so much potential” that everyone constantly tells me. I always view it as something you say to someone to raise their spirits, not inform them. I don’t find myself special or spectacular in any way, and yet EVERYONE tells me constantly that I am able and capable of so much MORE than I am doing. No matter what it is I am doing, I’m always told of what MORE I could do.

And I ignore them. Today however, I’ve made a pact with myself, sold myself my soul, if you will. It is mostly centered around some things I hold as fundamental truths in the universe, but have recently chosen to ignore. I’m not entirely sure why, but I have. You can read more about it here. To those I have crashed over on my long downward slide, I apologize. I’ll help you clean up the mess on my way back up. Just keep shouting down at me that “You can do it Krys! You’re almost there! You’re capable of so much if you only TRY!” and I’ll keep chugging my way up this abysmal pit I’ve dug myself recently. Maybe when I get to the top, I’ll even learn to use spellcheck (or better still, learn to spell in the first place!)

Applied Alchemy

As you may have read, I do much of the cooking around here. I’m quite good at it, if I do say so myself. She seems to think I’ve kicked her out of the kitchen, but this is simply not true. She’s more than welcome to come into the kitchen, and to prepare any foods she chooses. I just very much enjoy working my magic on the edible things we have in there, and look forward to the looks on the faces of those eating them.

For example, I made some truely AMAZING tacos the other night. Yes, its just tacos, i understand. But these were DEMONIC TACOS! FUELED BY BRIMSTONE AND SEETHING WITH ETERNAL HATE!

Ok, ok, ok… I’m kidding. Actually, they were created from leftover potroast, which I shredded. There was roughly 1.5lbs of potroast leftover, as well as about 5 cups of the liquid it cooked in, sometimes called gravy. I took the meat out, shredded it, and placed it in a large cauld… err, pot. I then added about 1 cup or so of the liquid, and plenty of the solids (No, not fat and gore and gristle. Onions, bell pepper and mushrooms.) Brought these chilled delights up to a near boil, and then added chili powder, cumin and paprika. A pinch or three of salt and pepper, and ONE tiny tiny splash of habinero tabasco. End result some some amazingly fabulous taco meat rivaling any restraunt or great-grandmother’s recipe. Yes, fabulous. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. And this was over a week ago.

This week, I will again be returning to the kitchen for some doom and destruction in the form of some absolutely adorable little pumpkin bunt cakes.. for our little minion’s Girl Scouts cake-walk. I will most deffinately be posting photos. Also keep in mind my BigOven page (soon, sorry, demo ran out and I’m waiting just a bit before registering my copy of this most AMAZING software), which will feature my favorite recipes and my OWN recipes. Since he loves to cook, and is remarkably extremely talented at producing some mouth watering, slap your mama and call her “fred” meals, I’ve taken on much more of a support only type role in the kitchen. Most nights, he not only cooks, but fights for clean-up as well. Which is amazing.

I don’t mind letting his creativity take over for a while. Like I told him, I’ve been doing all the cooking for many many years..and food *always* tastes better when someone else makes it.

Recently, we went to the grocery store with the sole intention of each finding 3 things we’d never tried before(or a new variant/flavor of an old favorite). He found some spicy pickled brussel sprouts, baby portabella mushrooms, and something else. I found some boursin cheese, and a new flavor of green tea.

Last night, we each picked out a different type of cheese to try. Ended up with baby gouda, 4 pepper goat cheese, and baked brie. Along with the almond stuffed olives, the garlic stuffed olives, and my penchant for making up some of the most wonderful sandwiches in the world..todays lunch was interesting to say the least.

He ate all of it though..which is quite a nice pet for my ego. We had 3 things, since I learned a long time ago mixing everything in one isn’t the best idea in the world.

There was:

1/2 Cold Sandwich:

red pepper jelly, ham, onion and pimento cheese

1/2 Hot Sandwich:

red pepper jelly, ham, bean dip, onion, baby gouda

Burritos:

chicken/beef and bean with melted goat cheese

One of these days, he’ll kick me out of the kitchen for good..until then, I’ll continue to see just how much I can get away with

LeeHarvey here, the resident Devil. My lovely little angel and I are about to embark on a truely spectacular journey, a marriage of the divine and the corrupt. Just for the record, no, I’m not a Satanist, devil worshipper or otherwise; it just so happens my nickname for this lovely little diva is “sweet little angel”. Couple that with my CounterStrike and Day of Defeat nickname, LeeHarvey, and well, Angel Vs. Devil just fit. I set up this particular blog for us to bounce ideas off one another online, in a format she is more than comfortable with. I too find comfort in the anonymous glow of the internet, but have never put much value to anything out there, blogwise. Myspace pages, blogs, you name it, don’t hold my attention for long (just check out MY blog). You’ll see how neglected it becomes. I just don’t think about these places when I’m not sitting at the keyboard. She on the other hand, does think about them, and sometimes things that are said and done on these sites holds a value in the real world. I can understand that. Consider this part of my pro-active attempt to hold ALL fronts of the fort in the front facing and attention receiving members of my ill-formed brains. We may play around with this format a bit until we get it just-right, but for now I think we’ll just make do. I’ve said my piece, now I’ll pass the keyboard skyward, to that little cloud on the left there. She’s generally sitting there, looking down into this craggy pit of brimstone I call home.

I are a Grr. Written words make things real.. I’m eccentric and goofy, patient and an absolute master at procrastination. Even though sitting still is nearly impossible. There is SO much to learn, see and try that my list never seems to get any shorter, new things just get added in random order. Reading 3 or 4 books at a time is completely normal here, and a library card is an absolute MUST. Granted, the procrastination bit means that there’s almost always late fees. It balances out somehow..right? My sweet prince of darkness is absolutely amazing at not only putting up with, but keeping up with, the never ending changes. He doesn’t try to force the square peg..he’s working on building a new square hole. He DOES however, make fun of my height, or lack thereof. Constantly. Relentlessly. Remorselessly. Incessantly. Seeing as how he’s 6’3 and I are a mere 5’1..it makes everything a tad odd. Except the most amazing sex. Flexibility and a willingness to try new things probably only add to the absolute wonder of sharing such a beautiful thing with *my one*. The fact that he can, and quite often does, fling me around like I weigh no more than a feather makes fun times all around too. I’ll leave the rest of the good details for later posts…
